Join Us for the Ann Arbor Film Festival’s Annual Fundraiser
January 23, 2025
The Ann Arbor Film Festival (AAFF) is hard at work planning a memorable evening supporting the future of experimental film art. We're delighted to host our annual fundraiser immediately following the Sneak Preview of the 63rd AAFF.
Event Details:
Monday, March 10, 2025
5:30 PM: Sneak Preview of the 63rd AAFF at the Michigan Theater
603 E Liberty Street, Ann Arbor
7:00-8:30 PM: Drinks & Hors d'Oeuvres at Sava's
216 S. State Street, Ann Arbor
This special evening will include a celebratory toast to the Ann Arbor Film Festival's ongoing efforts to preserve its rich legacy as one of the longest-running independent film festivals in the world. As we honor the festival’s past, we also look forward to its future, ensuring that the spirit of experimental cinema and artistic innovation continues to thrive for years to come.
We’ll be highlighting the invaluable contributions of key figures and institutions who have supported this mission. Among those being recognized are:
Doug Rideout, a filmmaker who attended every festival screening for over four decades from its start in 1963. He meticulously collected and filed each poster, program, and relevant newspaper clipping, and his efforts have allowed us to fill vital gaps in the historical record. Doug’s collection, now at the Bentley, will ensure that the AAFF’s rich legacy will be available for future generations to explore and enjoy.
The Bentley Historical Library, which has been instrumental in preserving the AAFF's historical records and related materials donated by founder George Manupelli and early festival manager Jay Cassidy. The Bentley's archives offer an essential resource for scholars, filmmakers, and festivalgoers alike, helping to tell the story of the AAFF's impact on the cultural landscape over the decades.
The Ann Arbor District Library, whose collaborative efforts with the AAFF have helped make archival materials more accessible to the public, and whose commitment to fostering a love of film in the community has helped build a strong foundation for the festival’s success.
This evening will be a chance to reflect on the AAFF’s past, acknowledge the efforts of those who have worked to protect its history, and look ahead to a vibrant future for the festival and the world of independent cinema.
Your attendance will help fund the 63rd Ann Arbor Film Festival, set to take place from March 25-30, 2025, with the Awards Programs online March 30 - April 13.
