I just finished up my double major in Studio Art BFA and Graphic Design BFA at Michigan State University. Though my concentrations are in sculpture and electronic arts/intermedia, I paint a lot in my free time. I also enjoy going out on trail walks and cooking at home. I'm also an international student from Bangkok, Thailand.

Having the opportunity to work on the major design objects of the festival and getting sneak peeks of the films (or at least stills from them) that will be featured in the festival before anyone else!

What’s your go-to comfort film?

Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver and Harry Bradbeer’s Enola Holmes

If you could hang out with any filmmaker who would it be and what would you do?

I would hang out with Tim Burton and pitch my “Tim Burton theme park” idea to him because I’d love to create all the sets and props based on his films.

Name: Laura Millar

Pronouns: She/Her

Position: Public Relations and Marketing Intern

My name is Laura Millar and I'm a Film, TV and Media major with a Creative Writing minor at the University of Michigan. I love drawing, writing and watching new TV shows and movies!

What are you most looking forward to doing in your new position?

I’m most looking forward to festival week and seeing everything that all of the interns and staff members have worked on come together. I’ve never been to an in-person film festival before, so I’m really looking forward to attending the festival and being a part of everything that happens behind the scenes.

What’s your go-to comfort film?

I have a few go-to comfort films, and most of them are Pixar. “Finding Nemo” and “Monsters, Inc.” are definitely two of my favorites that never seem to get old.

If you could hang out with any filmmaker who would it be and what would you do?

Although he passed away in 2015, I would definitely choose Wes Craven if I could hangout with any filmmaker. As director of the “A Nightmare on Elm Street” and “Scream” series (two of my favorites!), I think he would definitely have a lot of fun stories to tell. I would love to rewatch the “Scream” series with him and get a behind the scenes explanation of some of his creative decisions.
