OPENING NIGHT FUNDRAISER PARTY

Onstage at the Michigan Theater
Support the AAFF by joining us for a private exclusive celebration onstage at the Michigan Theater featuring delicious refreshments by Bona Sera Café and an open bar by Ann Arbor Distilling Company. Tickets are $150, include reserved seating for the 8:15pm Opening Night Screening, and can be purchased online, and by contacting Allison Buck (allison@aafilmfest.org). We will also honor former AAFF Director and distinguished juror for this year, Ruth Bradley. Don’t miss this exclusive start to Festival week!

Kick off the Festival with cocktails and food from some of the best local vendors. Open bar, a great assortment of hors d'oeuvres and desserts, and music spun by DJ Jeremy Wheeler make the Opening Night Reception an event to remember! Entrance includes seats to the first screening of the festival, the Opening Night Films in Competition 1. Tickets start at $40.00 and you can purchase them here.

OPENING NIGHT SCREENING - Films in Competition 1

Join us for an exciting first program of nine short films including recent experimental, documentary, and animated works. Features a 35mm found-footage hand-manipulated collage, a love tale between a human cannonball circus man and a young secretary from Liverpool, a kinetic romp investigating the images imprinted onto wine corks, a visit to a place without ever going there, mind-bending animation, the most narrative narrative never narrated, and more.

Films in the program are Over & Over by Michael Fleming; LUIS & I by Roger Gómez & Dani Resines; Chateau au Go Go by Steve Gentile; Mind Frame by Jake Fried; Victor & Isolina by William Caballero; A Narrative Film by Michael Edwards; and In the Vicinity by Kelly Sears. Don’t miss the World Premiere of both External Memory by Yuan Zheng and Astral Atomic by Sean Kenny. Filmmakers in attendance include: Michael Fleming, Bodil Fleming, Sean Kenny and Yuan Zheng.
